BASIC DESIGN CERTIFICATE 80 HOURS

  1. FUNDIMENTALS/WIREING TECHNIQUES 12 HOURS
    This program includes the history of floral design, flower and foliage identification, flower classification, corsage and wristlet design. Students will make bows, hair combs and use new materials to design their body flowers. They will also learn about taking floral orders, wire out orders, and customer etiquette.
  2. BASIC DESIGN/CARE AND HANDLING 12 HOURS
    This program includes floral pricing, care and handling of flowers, oasis and its uses, color theory with the proper use of supplies and tools. Students will practice receiving, and processing procedures. Students will make wrapped bouquets, boxed flowers, rose arrangements and round arrangements.
  3. FOAM ARRANGMENTS/ GLASS VASE ARRANGMENTS 12 HOURS
    The students will make arrangements in various size containers including the latest and most popular glass vases, they will use a control sheet to price out there arrangements. Students will learn about how to do deliveries. Students will take a field trip to a fresh flower wholesaler and hard goods wholesaler. (Must be arranged during the day)
  4. WEDDING DESIGN 12 HOURS
    Students will design 4 basic wedding bouquet styles Hand tied, Cresant, Round and Cascade. They will price out wedding flowers, simulate a wedding order, learn about problem flowers and learn the etiquette of working with the bride.
  5. SYMPATHY DESIGN 12 HOURS
    Students will design a standing spray, wreath, casket spray, rosary and memorial piece. They will price out a funeral and find out the etiquette of working with the family.
  6. SHOP OPERATIONS 12 HOURS
    Student will learn the hierarchies of the flower shop and the day-to-day maintenance business planning, the different types of floral shops, different floral jobs, delivery of flowers, local and national trade associations, and trade publications.
  7. PLANT CARE 8 HOURS 8 hours
    Plant care problems associated with plants. Toxic plants and plant care terms. Students will make different types of plants.

ADVANCED DESIGN 80 HOURS CERTIFICATE
(Students must complete all three programs to receive certificate)
  1. ADVANCED DESIGN USE OF TECHNIQUES 30 HOURS
    Modern and contemporary design styles will be designed incorporating the latest in materials and design techniques.
  2. ADVANCED WEDDING DESIGN 30 HOURS
    Hand tied European style bouquets will be designed by the students as they create a custom wedding with hair and body flowers. Students will make arrangements for the church and a centerpiece and table decor for the reception.
  3. TROPICAL DESIGN 20 HOURS
    Students will learn care and handling of tropicals and design 4 arrangements in different styles with the use of products shipped from Ecuador, Australia, Africa and the Tropics

Advanced Wedding Design
Length of Class: 40 hours

Autumn Design
Length of Class: 16 hours
(Private Lesson - Appointment Necessary)

Students will make a wreath swag or door garland for their holiday decorations. Students will make a unique candle centerpiece and topiary.
